Cooling fans

Just had my LCR in the dealers to sort out the air con, and they have said the fault was the fans, and they needed to be replaced, (only £366! ). Driving home i noticed that the air con didn't seem as cold could it need re-gassing as it is 3 yrs old, ( but the dealer was told to check it) good old dealer. Very angry aswell the car ran out of warranty in june but the dealer said he would sort out a good will gesture fax first thing monday morning, lets hope then.

there are alot of fans failing at the moment...

Vag cars have had recalls on fan motors before... mmm...

not sure how they carried out the recall / replacement, but for my car it was only picked up when i had it serviced.
The dealer told me id need to book it on again to have them replaced as they had been recalled.

I had mine done under warranty, it's a VERY common fault to other vag cars not just Leons

I'm sure you should get some joy from Seat UK

You are right there was never a recall but loads have been changed under warranty

dealer should be phoning today as they did forget to check air con for gas test and i will remind him about the fans

If your having both fans done, large and small, the above figure will be for parts only. The labour to replace them is pretty much the same again as whole front end comes off. Mine were done earlier this year 5 weeks out of warantee and the final bill was approx £830 all in . Suggest you check with your dealer what they need to do or you might get a nasty shock when picking it up...

I think you have been diddled, the cost of the fans including VAT is just under £263, labour time not much more than 1.5 hours
