Cooling down?

Hi all, I’ve noticed when I get out of the car I can hear a slight humming noise. Investigated further and I’ve recorded a video of the noise and where it’s coming from / connected to. This is happening when the car is off, on both short and long journeys. Is this normal? As you can probably tell, I’m no mechanic! Thanks!!

I think it's the fan that cools things like the ECU etc. I may be incorrect but this happened on my MK3 and the Mrs Megane.

Happened on my Mk3 and Mk4, I thought it was something to do with turbo cooling?

Yes, that was my understanding. The last three VW’s I’ve owned have also all made similar ‘humming’ and whirring noises when the engine’s tuned off - it’s normal. You might also hear the fuel system priming when you unlock the car on approaching it.

This is the sound of the coolant circulation pump. If you look closely, you will see the liquid flowing through a thin tube to the expansion tank.
