I changed the thermostat the other day and this hasn't solved my problem of the car not getting upto temperature like it should. I thought it was stuck open but up on checking both the new and old one they both performed the same, perfectly. And at £3 I cant complain that it wasn't that.
Now my next option is the coolant temp sender. I know this suffers from dirt/limescale build up on the probes but that wouldn't effect the reading would it? I dont get the beeping when I start it up, although I did when it had no coolant in when I changed the thermostat.
Could it be anything else?
Also I presume the car is fine to drive harder than when its cold as its actually warming up it's just getting a false reading on the dash?
I have seen the gauge hit 90 a few times. But most the time it hardlies moves or just sits at quarter.
Also I have searched but all you get is.....'al try the coolant temperature sender next'...and then there's no reply.
