coolant issues

hi guys, i've tryed searching and looking through FAQ's but i cant seem to find anything relevant. appologies in advance if ive missed a relevant topic.

i've recent bought a LC, engine code AUQ.

i bought it with a cracked block, which was causing a nasty water leak, ( no oil in water or vice vera) engine was built with a new block, but im having some teething problems.

i can run the car up to 90 degrees no problem, though it does come up to temp fairly quickly, ( cold start to 90 in less than 6-7 mins ) top hose gets hot, bottom hose remains cold.

i suspect a blockage somewhere, tryed the usuall pulling the rad hoses off and letting water run through.

water runs through the radiator itself freely, water runs from the expansion tank to the top rad hose freely, but my suspect blockage seems to be somewhere around where the bottom rad hose joins the block.

i'm not to clued up in anything with a turbo.. ( i was one of the numptys who claimed N/A was best lol )

what temp should the thermostat open? what are the chances of it being blocked or stuck shut? also will i have to remove the alternator to get into the thermostat housing ?

thanks in advance for any help, im at my wits end lol

Ally.

The thermostat will keep the bottom hose blocked until the engine is hot. Should open when the coolant in the block reaches between 85°C and 90°C. Full opening is at least 7mm.

its just got the standard bosch effort in, will this be knackerd? i noticed there wasnt a jubilee clip or anything holding it into the pipe from the airbox, but there is on the pipe that runs to that metal one lol

also its a nightmare to start :S will this be something to do with that ?
