Hi Stuart

I have had one of these boxes for a couple of years know and find it most useful, it does not freeze things but does keep them nice and cool. You must remember though that if you leave it plugged in to the Car that it will take power out of the battery so you will need to keep the car battery charged up regularly. I.E. if you are camping and use the coolbox but do not start the car for a few days you may find that you have a flat battery. Ideally if you want to use it a lot you should have it wired up to a second battery that can be charged by the car when it is running but the box does not drain the main battery so that you will be able to start the car after a few days of coolbox use.

If you want to be cheap, try this:

A normal cool box - say £12. Two large 4-litre bottles of water. Pour away 50ml from each. Freeze them. Put the frozen bottles in your cool box. Will keep contents cool for about 48 hours.

Upside, simple, cheap and no risk to batteries

Downside - you probably won't have access to a freezer to do more if you're touring!
