Considering Ibiza for rally car, realistic?

Hi,

I'm after building another rally car for road rallying. I would be looking (as always) to compete in the 1400cc class. However, looking at the 1.4 Ibiza they seem to be massively underpowered at a mere 73bhp with apparently not much available in terms of improvement.

What would be the likelihood of getting 100bhp out of one? What about a 1400 from a golf or other VAG?

And please, don't say 'just put a bigger engine in', I do not have £30k plus to compete with the big boys in the 2000cc class

Thanks :)

I did see one of these fitted to a Caddy Van that had been modded up to 130 odd bhp... Not sure how much that had cost, though.

To be honest I have only just returned to a VAG recently so I'm unsure if everything is interchangeable and fits properly i.e. mountings, driveshafts, linkages etc... If a lupo 1.4 would drop straight in with just a ECU/loom change required then that would good enough.

Hopefully someone will come along and give us some firm information :)

isint there strict regulations for the 1400 class? my old man rallys a puma and a rover/mg the mg boys seem to have it sorted seeing as they are 105bhp stock, it would take some real doing to get anywhere near as powerfull, but then rallying aint just about power
