Connecting a non-ipd mp3 player

Picked up an 06 Leon Stylance 2.0tdi last night and I'm trying to familiarise myself as quick as possible with all the threads on audio etc. but I haven't found anything that answers this query directly.

In previous car we had a stereo with an aux-in socket to which I connected my Creative Zen Vision:M via a 3.5mm to a 3.5mm cable.

My Leon doesn't have an aux-In socket…and so, assuming I keep my Zen and don't go down the ipod route, I want to know what my best options are please.

I realise that having a Zen will mean no kind of control over it using the steering wheel but that doesn't bother me. Just want something as simple as possible to enable my Zen to come through the stereo.

(If possible, I would rather not have an FM transmitter thing)

Thank y'all in advance.

I guess the 3.5mm aux-in socket was only added as standard from the 07 model year onwards then.

However, I'd have thought that the factory-fitted head unit was still the same so you might be able to get hold of the cable to allow aux-in and get that fitted. Added bonus of that would be you get to decide where you wanted the 3.5mm socket.

Maybe worth enquiring at a stealer, see what he could do....?

Thanks for reply.

Yes, shame it wasn't standard till 07 but I guess you can't have it all.

I reasoned that it would be same/similar head-unit and thus there would be a cable about somewhere. Perhaps this is a standard service a dealer offers? It's just that I couldn't see it as an accessory on the Seat website.

Has anyone had a similar thing done?
