Im sure this question has been asked a thousand times but here goes.

I own a 1.8se leon, nice care, not enough oomph and although a nice looking car not the most aggressive, has 16" wheels that dont look to bad. anyway to the point.

I have been considering buying an CTR, something around the £13K area. It was the car I wanted b4 I got the leon a couple of years ago. When I bought the leon I didnt realise it had a good following and had I known I would have tried to source a cupra variant, although saying that my budget probably would not have stretch to one then.

So im thinking of an CTR but then Im in a SEAT dealers today (Arnold Clarke) and they have a few 55 plate LCRs for sale all delivery mileage, just under £15k about £14,990 i think. Gets me thinking!!! Should I try and stretch my budget and go for an LCR?

Love the look of the LCR, know its probably more practical than CTR etc but I'm not sure about changing 1 leon (albeit a lesser variant but with similar interior) for another leon.

Can anybody give me an unbiased opinion please?

I've been looking at CTR site an it appears the CTRs are not fault free either.

I dont necessarily need 5 doors.

Anybody had both?

I’d recommend you test drive both and see which on you prefer. And then remember that you will be able to remap a LCR to about 260bhp for not that much, but you won’t be able to tune a CTR without spending megabucks for only a little gain. So what I trying to say is also consider if you’re going to mod either car. Also consider a delivery mileage LCR with have 3 years warranty where if your looking at an older CTR it might be out of warranty.

As for owning a Leon then owning another, I wouldn’t worry about it. At least you know where everything is on a Leon.

cheers mate, the mods thing probably wouldnt happen, I purely dont have dosh to spend on cars, with other priorities (young son, motorbike and drums).

The warranty issue is a good point though....although i suppose if I spent 15K on leon then I could go and find a newer CTR with similar time left on warranty.

I should go and have a drive your right. Personally feel the Leon has a higher quality feel to the interior and also has more gadgets whilst I like the the seats in the CTR and I read that the gears are very good. Both look aggresive although ive never been 100% on the rear of the leon whilst I think the front end looks great.

need i say more, all i can say is test drive em both the same day and you will see, then dont forget you can chip the LCR to 270 ish :D

I test drove both and liked both.iv'e always had vw's so the LCR was the better option for me as i know i can do most of the work if needed myself.the jap stuff is abit more technical and put me off abit
