I'm looking to upgrade my front speakers - I am thinking of going for Focal 165V-Slim (56mm) - although i still don't know the how deep a speaker can be mounted in a mk3 Ibiza (before obstructing the window...and i dont fancy tacking off door trim just to measure.. front speakers are getting installed by people who know what theyre doing!!)

Any ideas??

I have up to £300(nothing over) to spend, and I want everyone else's opinions on what sounds the best, I want some really crisp sounding speakers that can play loud and last long (along with an amp costing around £100)..

So whats really good for this price?? My mate recommends infinity - he has some, they do sound nice.. my local audio shop dislikes infinity??? soo.... help :)

Stick with JL Audio, Diamond Audio, or Focal. Get decent gear first time or you will regret it!! Ebay is the best place to pick up quality car audio for cheap. I got some diamond audio s600a HEX components for £100 brand new never installed, and they retail at £500!!! Picked up a JL audio 300/2 slash amp for £80 which retails at £350!!

Ebay is your friend )

JL audio is very good for the money,

But saying that these following makes are VERY good too:
RE
Rainbox
Focal

they are some of the big hitters in the industry with good reputations, quality good and overall fanntastic sound reproduction.

its all up to the OP to decide how much money he wants to spend though....

and one point i cannot stress enough.... DO NOT use a cheap amp with high end / quality speakers.

its like buying an evo and running it on the cheapest fuel you can get your hands on... it simply wont performe.

Ok.. So... I think i will go for the slim fit

Focal Polyglass 165 VRS
# Max. power: 120W.
# Nom. power: 60W.

Can you suggest a decent amp for them?

Maybe the Alpine: MRV-T320 or Alpine: MRV-T420??

Edit: Or even the
Focal: Solid 2 as im going crazy on focal...

bearing in mind, if you go for a 'slim fit' the woofer cone will find it harder to produce bass as the air movement will not be adequate.

the thinner depth the speaker, the less bass

Would the 165KR fit?.. I am unsure as to whether these will fit - so thought i'll go for the slimmest ao there will be no trouble... I dont want to order speakers get to fitting them, and then they not fit .. that'd be a massive let down :)

hehe think i'd be devastated if it got to the install and i forgot the pods ;) I ordered some the other night..

And, If yours fitted with no problems then I shall go for the C5-650. Only 2.5mm more woofer mounting depth - so should fit fine.
