Bilston.
Right as most of you have probably read my ibiza is suffering with a hell load of wind noise coming from the drivers side door... but only at speeds of 60+ and its not a constant thing either which infuriates me.

Now am I just now being over picky as in these cars do make alot of wind noise and its just ts deal with it.

I have been to the stealers and had the holes behind the wing mirror filled and the seal around the doors top edge. I cant think of anywhere else noise or should I say drag (the kind of noise you get if your windows not closed right) is coming from except its right next to me and its rather load.

I'm getting to the point now where i just want to hand the keys back and forget about seats... which disapoints me as I love my fr.

Has anyone got any ideas suggestions things i could try out that Imay be missing ..

Do you know if it is just your car, or have you had the chance to drive another to see if it's just a design thing?

i had a courtesy car which i didnt notice any noise with. So i'm guessing it just my car...

one thing I have noticed is the drivers door can be a little stiff to open, when you pull the handle on inside it seems to just pop and open after a little force is applied.

Is your's a facelift model? My FR is, and I get some wind noise (also driver's side), but only up to about 40mph. After that it disappears. The demonstrator I tried was the same, possibly worse.

Something peculiar with silver mirrors? Anybody with a Cupra having the same problem? Or other models?

Other possibilities - try taking the mirror off altogether (!), where side of windscreen meets the pillar, gaps between door and wing, wing and bonnet. Put masking tape over all gaps.

Anyone got a wind tunnel?

The wing mirror has been seen to and the holes behind it filled. The noise sounds like its around the door if that makes sense...

on inspection outside the car the door seal sits very snug against the body work up and accorss the roof.

I've driven with the window open (when it's not raining, as it seems to nearly all the time now), and can still hear the wind noise.

Just lived with it up till now. I've had a few cars in my time and some have suffered from wind noise around the mirror area, but not the annoying whistling I am getting with my Ibiza.

Well I think its the window seal after looking and messing at work.... if i run a piece of paperf up the windows edge it slips under at the top of the window at the top of the seal.... gonna test this out with some masking tap sealign the window completely if it proves to be this whats the likely hood that a new window seal will fix the problem?

Apparently its a FR and Cupra thing.

I had mine in with the same problem, they changed the seal (they've tested loads of different seals, 9 when i took mine in a few months ago) under warrenty but it still does it

It'll be getting booked in again soon enough to see if they have made a new version of the seal to stop it all together.. i won't hold my breath though!

The two things that seem to annoy people the most are whistling around the mirror area (seal?) and misting in the headlamps. Both seem to be design faults which countless visits to the dealers don't seem to fix.

The whistling wing mirror is due to two holes behind the backing plate for the wing mirror. If you take off the plastic cover inside the corner of the window (it should just pull out) you will see 2 holes. fill these witht he filler of your choice (silcon prefered) and presto no more whistles.

As for myself I convinced its the window seal thats ****. I have the wing mirror off and cannot see anythiing and the last "repair" seat did was to push a load of sealant into the corner of the back plate for the wing mirror.

When the weather drys uip i'm gonna mask off my window and see what difference that makes. I'm going to probably ask seat for a new wing mirror and window seal anyway so I may just do that first.

We shall see.

Sounds like the window/door seal to me as well. The top of mine does get a bit moist when it rains heavily and it does have a bit of wind noise, but I've got used to it.

Mine does it on the motorway constantly, sounds like the windows are open slightly. I'm always pressing the "close" button but to no avail, the noise still remains!

Try flattening the back seats and driving at some speed, sounds like the boot is wide open!!
