Recently after I bought my seat Ibiza Cupra which is a DSG 1.4 twin charge (CAVE) it had reoccurring issues where it’d suddenly cut out and instantly turn back on without touching anything, worsening daily it would then cut out and bring me to a stop where it would turn straight back over, followed by it cutting out and struggling to turn over and would get there after a few tries, then finally it not starting, however did turn on once when I left it to get cold which hasn’t happened again for a good week. This issue happened initially when I would push the car a little and when I’d start slowing down shut the car down. This car recently had a DSG box rebuild and I purchased it after this fix had been made, I also have not been able to read into any engine management codes, and the engine light would never stay it would always instantly go back off. I’m not getting any spark from the plugs and can’t hear the fuel pump. Signs are towards ECU troubles, really not sure and don’t want to start throwing money at random things and hope for the best, and insight would be great, the one time I got engine codes I got ‘Communication with component ‹Engine control unit / Drive train control unit 1>’ . The car tries to turn over but never catches and actually starts.

There's a fuse for the ECU Fuse 32 I believe, that could be worth a try if you are seeing comms failure to the ECU, but chances are it could be ECU - or maybe a ground issue. There was an issue with water getting into the ECU on some of these given its location

There are reliable places that can test your engine ECU or most other controllers, to knock that idea on the head or solve it.

Edit:- in most cases if the ECU is faulty, they can repair it and return it to you with its original coding still intact.
