Just been down to the caldicot seat dealership. Was hoping to test a new FR..but theres aint arrived yet.

Ended up looking at a new TFSI. and it seems to not be a world apart from the fr. 15 HP..which is bugger all. And some badges ect. This TFSI also had the optional bodykit and fairplay..It looked stunning.

What are peoples comments on them, as i am considering buying it. i currently have a mk1 leon cupra with 250bhp. I noticed the TFSI is only a revo away from a tidy amount of power also..255bhp. So im very tempted.

Think it might be worth waiting for the FR?

The cupra is over a year away. i am also considering waiting for that. But i dunno. What are the expected figures and features of it? Coz if its similar to the old models..theres bugger all between the old cupra and cupra R in reality. So wots expected for the Cupra when it comes out? If its worth waiting for then fair enough..but if not..then il just buy and FR or TFSI now.

Lol...thats estimated...probably a bit high actually..its revo stg 2...exhaust..downpipe..manifold...induction.

Keeps up with an evo 6...so goes well enough.

Anyway..on topic. Am really interested in peoples comments on these TFSI's, And the differences between that and the FR.

I haven't driven the FR yet, but i have had a TFSI for 4 months and have had no problems except rattles from the speakers. The car has all the kit you could wont straight out of the box and as far as i am concerned the performance is great. Smooth acceleration in all the gears, with a nice turbo wooshhhhh!

I'm driving about 400miles per week mainly up and down the A12 average is 33mpg, normally stick the cruise on about 80mph. Can get an indicated 37mpg if stick at about 60mph.

Recommend it, but in hindsight wouldnt have gone for the 18" alloys i have as cause IMO significant understeer, stick to 17". Wouldnt bother with the FR get a good deal on the TFSI or wait for the Cupra IMO.

The FR is looking like a TFSI in different clothes... both have the same kit, the seat's are identical apart from the cloth, bumpers are different, With regards the engine, anyone who has rolling roaded their TFSI has found it's actually pumping out around 200bhp rather than the quoted 185.

If you want a TFSI circumstances may force me to change mine in a few weeks for a sensible car  if you're interested...

What price would you want for your car if you sold it?
Any options? Milege etc? :)

At risk of going off topic again slightly, I originally visted Cardiff when looking to purchase a new Leon....and they just didn't seem interested in selling me a car......no one approached me in the showroom and even after two test drives they failed to call me back with a price on my part ex (Subaru WRX). When they did eventually offer me a deal it was pretty poor. Just had a similar experience today when I popped in to view the FR TDI.

By contrast Caldicot offered me a fab deal over the phone and were great about taking the Scooby off my hands when I failed to sell privately.

In respect of the Sport v FR debate, Cardiff have today offered me just under £13k on my 3 month old Zenith Grey TDI Sport with parking Sesnsor and MP3 - effectively 5K to change to an FR TDI with metallic.....think I'll save the £4.500 and pop over to Westek for a REVO treatment (168ps for the FR vs an estimated 185 following Revo - no contest!) With the money I save I could still get some fancy alloys and a momo gear knob. That will keep me going until next year and maybe....just maybe  I will be persuaded to go back to petrol.....the shots of the Cupra in the auberguine colour at the Motor show look great

I should know later this week if we're going to need to sell the Leon, It's likely I'm going to need a big motorway mile munching estate :(

I've looked on the web and the cheapest TFSI I've seen is a 55 plate for £13,995. A dealer has offered me £13,100 for mine so it's likely I'd be looking for around that

It's a 06 plate (late March) Black, extras are chrome mirrors, spare wheel, metalic paint and Supaguard paint & interior protection. In addition it has reversing sensors, a Parrot Bluetooth phone kit and tomtom hard wired in. Last time I looked the mileage was a whisker under 3000.

I have a TDI Sport too and have thought about getting a TDI FR but its financial suicide to change so soon ( i bought mine in june when it was 6 mths old). Then i seemed to follow your path too and think about changing back to petrol for the cupra. The TDI is brilliant to drive, the running costs are so much lower but then I yearn for a hot hatch. Decisons, decisions
