Once one goes the rest will follow, normally around 60k miles. Keep a spare in the boot, only £25 and easy to change!

If one goes you are normally advised to replace them all or end up with the scenario you have. One of mine went 2 years ago and I was advised to replace all 5 which hurt, but haven't had a problem since - touch wood :)

As said above, replaced one a month or so ago and it went the other night, changed it and took it back to the dealers for a new replacement, there's 12 month warranty on them.

Im pretty certain its the coilpacks as the stymtoms were exactly the same as when my last one gave up.. came to my car this morning and it wouldnt start atall! :( And my Vagcom has decided to give up and im pretty certain im not doing anythin wrong.. is there any way of testing the coipacks without the aid of the engine running or vagcom? I really dont want to take it to the dealers to be fixed :/

Not really, although if one has properly burnt out you might be able to smell which one it is by which one smells of electrical burning.
