i had this exact problem back in sept 05!
it kept flashing and then it would stop and it wasn't permanent, very intermitent!
i had it booked in at the dealers alredy, when i was driving along and some very weird stuff happened!
my doors unlocked and the interior lights came on, then everything went off, dash lights, stereo, headlights, the lot! i pulled over, switched off and then it wouldn't start!

basically, it was all down to a broken wired which had originally been connected too tightly and had snapped. it stopped the alternator from working properly and charging the battery, hence the lack of power.

what was weird, was why it hadn't happened sooner? basically, as you know, the tdi engines do move about alot when revved. well this particular week i was on a fuel save and hadn't given the car any beans at all. and this was my downfall!
when the engine was revved, it moved and connected the broken wired which sparked the alternator into life.

the tdi sports have a voltmeter luckily and on start up, the volts read 12v which is wrong, it should be 14v, and after a bit of heavy revving, the volts jumped to 14v!
took Seat quite a while to find the problem as it was so tiny and obscure! i'd get it booked it straight away if i were you!

hope this is of some help, sorry bout the essay length :)

i cant rememember what light came up on mine, think it was the coil light, but something turnout out to be faulty with the brake pedal, get it down to your dealer & get it plugged in & checked out
