Clutch replacement

Hello forum,

I've owned my seat Leon mk1 tdi for just under 2 years.

I've noticed recently the engine slipping when putting my foot down and been advised this is more than likely the clutch on its way out.

Would any one have any advice on a decent replacement clutch? Also may consider remapping at a later point so don't want to replace again.

Any links or details would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I've just replaced mine and a standard clutch can be good unless going for silly high power levels.

The general advice is to go with Sachs, LUK or Valeo.

As a price guide I had mine supplied and fitted, including new Dual mass flywheel, Sachs, for £522. That was a local independent garage but the prices from the bigger boys ranged from £700 - £900!

I could get best price at £301 then fit it myself but decided not this time.

My local Mr Clutch even said they couldn't confirm a price until they had it apart. Could only guess what the answer would be if I said no thanks, put it back together and I'll take it elsewhere! What utter nonsense.

I bought a Sachs for mine about 3 years ago - went for plate, cover, dual mass flywheel and slave cylinder so I wouldn't have to worry about anything else giving up in the next few years. I decided to go for something rated a bit higher than standard (I'm running a stage 1 map with a few extras). Wasn't cheap, but it has been rock solid.

+1 for Darkside.
