Clutch Pedal Snapping!!!

Hi All, I'm new to this site myself but have spent the past few hours reading peoples Wo's and troubles with Seat Clutch Pedal/Pedal box snapping.

This has happened to me this morning but it seemed fine yesterday! Think the Ibiza's a great car and has never given me any grief until this point.

I live in Reading in the South East and wanted to see if anyone around this area has managed to call a mechanic out to sort it? Or where they went to get it done?

I'd been told in the past that this might happen but like I said cars been amazing since day 1!

I'll try and add a picture of the damage to see if it inspires any ideas, but basically it looks like it's broken off from about 3 places all at right angles. In a couple of the other forums people were saying drill and bolt it, and in others they said weld it.

I don't think it'll bolt on because it's at right angles, and welding could be tricky because it's not a uniform break at all!!!!!

I've not felt this frustrated since they told me I'd need to spend £400 to weld my Fiat Uno back to safety back in the day! :help::help::help:

Either welding OR bolting should be fine.. just a PITA job to do unless you either take the box out or are pretty adept with either a drill or welding gear and are confident enough to do it 'In Situ'..

Cheers Brummy,

What do you mean by PITA?

Also am I supposed to fix it to the other broken part of the bracket or onto the actual bulkhead? It looks like the only place i could blt it onto wouldbe the bulkhead, doesn't seem right!!

Thanks anyhow, let you know how it goes.
Ps There isn't any specialist that do this is there?

Here's 2pictures of my pedal box which is now drilled and bolted.

Sorry about the mess but before it was bolted it had been welded up three times.

The head of the bolt has been welded over aswell  dont ask me why?!

Mite be to try and give it extra strengh.

Also one GOOD piece of advice to SOLVE the problem.

CHANGE THE CLUTCH CABLE!! And dont listen to any mechanic who says it isnt that.

I enquired with the mechanic i usually use if this would be the problem after it broke the second and third time. Both times i was told that it wouldnt be the cable causing the problem.

I have now changed the cable and everything is fine!! :D :funk:

Oh and i also use a different garage now!
