clutch pedal problems?

My clutch pedal snapped recently and i fixed it the same day.
It has been fine for a while but just recently if the car has been left standing for a few hours and i press the clutch there is alot of freeplay movement
in the pedal at the top and sticks slightly, it can be as much as an inch.

The clutch works fine even when it does this but it isnt right as when i have been driving 10-15 mins the freeplay goes and it feels as it should. checked all on correct and spring is located right so im abit stuck for answers. any help on wot it cud be wud be great.

had another look at the pedal 2day and found that the master cylinder rod was sticking in abit so greased it up and is alot better now.

I seem to remember having a stronger master cylinder return spring fitted to my old mk3 under warranty for the same problem

do you mean the spring on the pedal or the mechanism on the bulk head which operates the slave cylinder?
