Developed a noise yday, from my engine bay/clutch. Its like a whining noise, but when i engage my clutch pedal it goes.
Is this the slave cylinder/release bearing???

If so is it easy to change, never done one on the cupra, and what sort of prices are they??

does it make a noise when driving?
if its only when clutch operated its probably the release bearing but if its when driving it could be input shaft bearing of gearbox

These sort of noises are normally related to the clutch release bearing. Normally the noise will go away when the clutch pedal is pressed down and the clutch is disengaged.

In order to replace the bearing you need to separate the gearbox from the engine and remove the clutch Assembly. Unless you're feeling flush it's best to leave it and turn the radio up a bit really, there will have tens of thousands of miles left in the bearing even though it's noisy.

thanks for the replys. bloke at work says it sounds more like a slave, its not a metal sort of noise if that makes sense lol.
its xmas so not feeling too flush, might leave to the new year, and do the vr6 clutch/g60 flywheel swap.

what should i do?

Should always change slave and clutch some manufactures void warranties of one is changed with out the other might as well change th dual mass flywheel as well as the guna have done the same work as ya clucth and slave! I can get ya part number for GSF tomoz if ya near one and want me to for ya?

Cheers chambers. I managed to sort all the part numbers for the vr6/g60 flywheel and bolts, priced the parts up, they come to about £270 retail.its wierd because i got in my car after work and the noise seemed to have gone, but when pressing down/pumping the clutch pedal all i could hear was a wierd quiet pumping noise.

Slave? As in slave cylinder?

A faulty slave cylinder doesn't make strange noises, it causes you to need to pump the clutch pedal to get the clutch to disengage. You sure your bloke at work knows what he's talking about?

A wizzing or rumbling noise when the clutch pedal is up that goes away when the clutch pedal is down is normally a very slightly worn release bearing and is nothing to worry about at all.
