Clutch Juddering

3 year old Leon Cupra R

Any idea why I would be getting a judder through the clutch pedal on changing gear or holding it at the biting point?

I'm hoping it's not something expensive, but I'm probably just lulling myself into a false sence of security, so if someone could put me out of my misery I'd appreciate it.

To add insult to injury it's less than 30 days outside of it's 3 year warrenty, how gutted am I

:(

Cupra R clutch vibration

Thanks for the replies, a bit more info on it

It has only happend twice (yesterday) it's not noisy it was just a strong vibration through the clutch pedal. It doesnt slip and it doesnt happen at tick over, just on two occassions while depressing the clutch or holding it at biting point ready to pull away. It hasnt done it since.

Worth taking it to my SEAT dealer and taking a hit on paying to get it fixed or just keep an eye on it???

Cheers

Could be a DMF on the way out, if that is the case you really don't want it to fail in situ ... then again, replacing it will be a 4 hour labour job, at an independant that's about £200 plus the cost of a DMF which is around the £300 mark.

If you're going to keep the car for a length of time and plan on doing upgrades to increase power, it might be worth considering upgrading the entire clutch first.

The next question is how much money are you prepared to spend :) I would guess including fitting you're not going to see much change out of £800.

So fix a stock clutch with OEM parts could cost you £600 .... or for only £200 more you could get a clutch that will handle a lot more abuse and will last for the time you have the car.

I would ask a few more questions, do a bit more searching around the forum and see who's got what fitted, what they think of it ... and more importantly how much it cost them and from where :)

edit: I bought an uprated friction disc, when that went in to get fitted then found the DMF was shot to bits, had to replace that .. had i known that was dead i'd have bought a FULL heavy duty clutch and flywheel and upgraded the lot for what would have been a similar price - you have to play the hand you're dealt and i didn't guess the cards right. Although what i now have works just fine, it's not as good as it could have been for just a little more money.
