having had the dreaded clutch slip on my old diesel cupra from 9000 miles no mods at all just not used to diesel's. have just bought a new one and they have offered the servicing and maintenance deal, upon which i asked whether this would include the clutch after such low mileage, dealer stated it more than likely would, but would check with SEAT on tuesday to make sure and if so put it in writing.

So if your picking your new car up in the next few days ask the same question and as soon as i hear from Seat i will let you all know, hopefully free clutches for life!!!!!!!:funk: :funk: :funk: :funk:

sorry no news yet

looks as though it's gonna be hard to get an answer from SEAT, they have said that everything in the handbook will be included but at the moment are trying to ignore my question of whether 9k miles is fair usage on a clutch given all the problems all of us with fr and cupra diesels are having not forgotten though and will follow up as soon as they le me know.

anyone else fancy posing the question to SEAT as well (safety in numbers and all that)

right okay so just to let you all know, seat not giving a definitive answer and dealers saying it all relies on seat paying out for the work to be done, so i figure that if it does happen there'll be much whistling by them and a lot of swearing for me so decided against it, they all refused to put anything in writing as stated clutches are used in different ways???
so sorry for wasting evryones time but thought it was worth checking in case we could all save some money.

That's quite interesting - took the wife's 2 1/2 year old Fabia vRS in to sort a starting problem and mentioned that the clutch was slipping. Next thing I know, they've ordered a new clutch...it's done 22k miles as well. They mentioned something about a recall on the Fab??
