Clutch groan/drone on 07 TFSI Sport @ 14k miles

Hi, I've had a noise from the clutch but only as I release the pedal and the car begins to move again. The noise usually happens when moving slowly, say having slowed down to approach a speed bump and then moving off again.

The noise is best described as a moan or drone (no, it's not my wife or her mother, in case anyone was wondering), it's only momentary and it doesn't always do it, although it seems worse first thing in the morning or when things are hot. I'm assuming it's either the release bearing or the spigot bush (bearing?) in the end of the crank running a little dry.

The car has 6 months of warranty left and hasn't even done 15,000 miles yet (I only do short runs and can't afford to do much else these days), and I drive it quite gently really so it's certainly not suffered any abuse. Will I get any sympathy/action from my dealer? I'll bet the clutch isn't covered and being a sporadic problem they'll just claim they can't hear the noise, won't they?

The car came from Colliers in Birmingham (yes, I know...) - is there a better dealer within, say, 10 miles of Solihull in the West Midlands?

Cheers!

Nope, not had it sorted yet. It doesn't seem to be any worse, but the noise is more noticeable from cold (or when the car is very hot). One dealer (in Sandown) said they couldn't hear the noise. I'm leaving it for now - it'll probably be very hard to get it sorted under warranty and that expires in about 4 months' time anyway.

That sounds like your clutch release bearing.
Very similar symptoms on a previous car of mine.
You may get that fixed under warranty but they will prob try to backheel it as wear and tear. If you dont ask you dont get as they say:)
