i have a leon cupra on an "X" plate, ive searched the forums and found the common issues with the master cylinder.

i was driving this morning, went to change gear, and clutch pedal stayed on the floor, wouldnt even come back up when i pulled it.

i need a new clutch pedal anyway as the rod is slightly bent and the white clip is broke, is it a safe to say its the master cylinder, i didnt have no issues with the clutch upto when it failed, also how much is a pedal and master cylinder, i will be able to fit myself. thanks.

also had a look at the pedal, and the white clip on the clutch pedal/push rod has snapped, and the metal part on the pedal itself that pushes the rod down has snapped off.

Pedal fault. May have bent the master cylinder pushrod, but the fault is in the pedal itself, as you have seen. At worst pedal and master cylinder replacement, maybe only the pedal.

There's no room to work in the footwell, unless you're a contortionist you will have to take the drivers seat out.

I had this same thing on my Golf, the plastic clip that holds the master cylinder rod to the pedal came out, but luckily the rod itself was OK.

What we did was weld a small metal plate onto the pedal to hold the plastic bit in, worked a treat, but in your case looks like you will need to get the whole cylinder out.

i welded up the clutch pedal now, and rebuilt the pedal assembly, i had to straighten the push rod. will put it all back together tomorrow and leave it in my workshop over christmas and test after.

so hopefully thats sorted, im sure if they spent 5 extra minutes designing the clutch pedal then they would of come up with a better design.
