Clunking from LCR

Right, i have trawled around for info on this and the majority are pointing to the brake pads being at fault. However pads have been on for around 3000 miles from fresh and have been fine since. discs are running slightly low, but unsure if this is the problem. This thread here would suggest new pads and discs to cure the fault, possibly retaining springs.

The symptoms/causes of the clunking are:
-When driving slowly or coming to a very slow stop, ie pulling up slowly in traffic, before a turn into my driveway, when applying the brakes and car pitches a little forward i get an audible somehwat mettalic clunk from by my feet, possibly front right wheel.
-Also when putting into reverse and then applying the brakes at the same speed in reverse i get the same clunk.
-this does not occur at higher speeds 10mph + EDIT!!!: this does happen over 10+ especially when accelerating and car pitches backwards and forwards, or decelerating doing the same pitching backwards and forwards...

Can anybody that has had this problem describe slightly better the noise they get?

My concern is also linked to wandering whether this is the gearbox, have just had the clutch and dmf replaced by a vw specialist, doubt it will be this but i guess there is a possibility of dogbone mouint being loose hence clunking. I just dont know, can anybody shed any light?

Ah, well, im going to get it checked out asap as after driving it 15 miles back home and showing it to my brother who is a mechanic he reckons it could be front ARB, possible coils/damaged suspension, maybe engine mounts but not breaks as... although i did say it was only when braking, found out it also does this when accelerating and without the breaks.

Seems to be occurring when the car pitches backwards and forwards, but when pushing the suspension down by hand ie on the front wing and back of the car there are no noises. It will be going back to the garage that did the map and fitted the clutch and DMF asap as its only happened after this!!!

dont think its going to be engine mounts, as if so it would happen when bliping the throttle and lifting the clutch up quick ..if its underbraking it could be a rear wishbone bush cracked and damaged. let me know what the problem is when you get it checked.

Did anybody get to the bottom of this?

Mine does exactly the same, braking at slow speed and also changing direction at slow speed, i.e pulling on to my drive or reverse oarking etc. When i do this I get the clunk! :(

Right!!! turns out it is the front brake pads moving, the guy checked everything he did and all fine. And then went onto telling me how he had a batch of cupra rs over a one week period when he used to be head of recalls for SEAT, apparently Brembos, being motorsport calipers are prone to this. He said, get new pads and discs (as i need them anyway) and apply a good amount of copper grease to the back. Also check the fitting kit is okay...

Getting the brakes tomorrow morn on order so will let you know how i do..
