Clunking from Coilovers

Does anyone else have a clunking noise come from there coilovers (I have FK Highsports). When turning I can hear a loud *prang* when turning both left and right and it comes from both of the front shocks. This happens if stationary turning the steering wheel or when in motion and turning... Sounds as if the spring is jumping?..

mate. I had exactly the same with H&R coilovers!!! It was worst every single day
and finaly looked like this:

the springs were cutting it all over the time! first I though my tyres are scraching inside, but I cut the plastic inside and it should be ok, but wasn't !!! Try to turn fast and go round, see what happend.

I send my coilovers to Germany, to H&R, and they told me everything is ok!

The local dealer chanched it for Cup Kit and now is ok ....
No more coilovers in Ibiza, not in the front!

mine does it occasionally on H+R cup kit, get a knock from the front right when coming off the drive or turning the steering from a standstill first thing in the morning, does it once and thats it, someone mentioned new top mounts as the old ones were used off the std. suspension

I have no problem with Cup Kit, but there was something in the beginning, for first 500 km

The top mounts are from the standard setup as they do not provide any..so assume no bearing?
It's def not the cv joints Carl, I had a look/listen yesterday. Will try the nut on the top mount though first.

Even tho i drive a mk4 i get the same noise as your describing, an occasional clunk every now and then when turning from lock to lock or when turning on a hill/slope, I had new top mounts and bearings fitted at the same time as my FK's so im not surer what it could be, i might take it back to JBS for them to check over, just to be on the safe side

I get a rattling noise when I turn right on to slightly uneven ground at normal speed. I get the same if I corner hard to the right as well. Does this sound like anti-roll bar issues? Bear in mind I've had this clunking more or less as soon as the coilovers were fitted.

Driving in a straight line or turning left there are no such issues.

ive got the same problem. its the springs are'nt moving with the shockers they seem to stick then jump round making a pranging sound. every thing is tight. i dont think there is enough weight on them.

Can someone with Highsports check how many threads they have showing above the nut where the strut comes through the bodywork and into the engine bay?
I have 4 showing. I want to know if this is the reason (not tight enough) for the clunking...

yeah - it's not tight enough!

how did you hold onto the centre shaft while doing the top nut up?

Should the top nuts be tightened to a certain torque? and if so to what?

Soz for the questions, but if im doing mine soon, i wanna get it done first time.

I get a clunk from the bilstein coilovers i have fitted to mine.

Going to swap the front and rear tyres around this weekend so will investigate then. I'm pretty sure it's the spring getting loaded and then letting go thats making the clunk.

That would point to a stick top mount, i only get a slight clunk every now and again going from lock to lock.
