Clocks

Right, for more than a year now my oil light comes on everytime i start the engine and hit abour 1500rpm. Once i've stayed about 1500rpm for about 10secs it stays on and constantly flashes until i turn the car off.

Now I have gotten used to this over the last year or so, but it does do my head in a little when people ask "why is it beepin?"

Anyway, when it 1st happened I took it to my regular mechanic, we checked levels, pressure, signs of leaks etc. Nothing wrong what so ever!

So they gave Autoworld a call. They said "yeah the clock go after about 5 year s or so, he'll need new clocks!" so my mechanic asked how much, to which the respose was "around £500 plus fittin!"

WTF!!! They takin the piss!?!?

So this is why I still have the oil light flashin everytime i go somewhere.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone else has experienced this problem and if so is there a way round it? A fuse that could be removed (although there may be more than the oil sensor on that particular fuse), wires snipped? Anything at all?

Yeah I'm sure. Oh and also the Engine Management light is constantly on. Again, my local mechanic checked that and did a diagnosis and nothing appears to be wrong!

It's the clock, they are truley ****ed! Like I said, Autoworld want 500 of the queens english pounds to sort it!!!

i'd get a 2nd opinion...by someone who knows these cars and not someone who thinks they do

if the CEL is on then i bet its not the clocks, even if it was though, 500quid is a joke

If it is the clocks (which i doubt) as above source some from ebay and then get the milage transferd these services are also avaliable on ebay. I had to do the same for my mk2 cupra cost me about £100 tops all in. Easy enough to fit yourself too. :)
