Climate control problem?

I began noticing last summer that my climate control didn't seem to be working quite as well as it used to, so the other day I got it regassed at Kwik Fit (£25!). But it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

The problem isn't that it's not blowing cold air, if you put it on the LOW setting it is freezing cold, but click up one to 18 (or whatever it is) and it feels quite warm. When I first got the car I had it on 22 almost all the time, even in the middle of summer and it felt nice and cool, but now 22 is too hot.

Any ideas? Could it be some kind of temperature sensor somewhere? No other symptoms so not sure what to check. I'm sure that previously if you went from LOW to 18 the difference was very subtle, whereas now it is very noticable. 18 is not even cold!

Cheers,

BoZ

Its winter lol!

And I'm not being sarcastic. (Although I may be wrong, maybe Oxford is like the Bahamas compared to Belfast)

If the outside temp is anything below 18, your more than likely going to get warmish air.

Thats why it still works on the low setting, as it overrides the temp sensors.

Yeah, I had considered that and you could well be right, but I started noticing it last summer. Although having said that did it get above 18 degrees last summer?!

One thing to mention about KwikFit is that they are cheap, but I was a bit confused that at the end of the process the bloke said "yeah mate, it had too much gas in it". I've heard of gas leaking over time, but not breeding and multiplying...just hope they haven't ballsed it up!

22 [:@] in the summer  thats quite warm, i don't have it up that high in the winter. Don't forget it should act like a termostat, so will get to a temp and hold it, sounds like yours has never worked right.

If "Lo" gets you immediate cold air then the coolant circuit isn't the problem, its cooling when you force it to.

The cabin temperature sensor is behind that rectangle of holes in the slim panel above the climate control panel. There is a little fan to draw air over it.

Somewhere around here there is a guide to getting the sensor readings to come up on the climatronic screen.
