hi and thanks for reading, the problems is that the air con stoped blowing cold air. It all occured when i was driving down the motorway home i had been driving for at least ten minutes and turned the air con on i had it on and cold for around 5 minutes or so and then it started blowing ambient temprature air instead and i havent had cold air since. i have checked the pressure on the low side inspection valve and it reads around 80 psi not the recomended 65 and the compressor coil voltage is reading 7.5 which seemed strange any ideas and help is much appriciated thanks in advance

If you can access diagnostics using http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int5.shtml
then have a look at 52c to see what the compressor turn off code is. You may get a number rather than display as described on the web page. I'm currently experiencing similar problems and I get a compressor swith off code of 9.

I've got a Toledo which is the same as the Leon. I'm not familiar with the Ibiza so don't know if you can access any diagnostics.

I have now had the car on the diagnostics program and it came up with the folllowing problem

1 Fault Found:
01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)
000 - -

does any know why this would cause the ac not to work ??

Sounds like the flap the controls the airflow in the vent system. Prob prevent cold air passing over or out of the evaporator

i have now taken out the dash and checked that all the flaps are working and they seem to be fine ???

Is there any way to check this as when i took a direct power source to the compressor it sounded like the compressor clutch was engaging thanks

clutch is probably engaging that's why the pressure is there it runs then cuts out because sensor detects excess pressure then turns it off..

sorry for yet another question what would cause the compressor to over pressurize the system and cause the switch to cut out. Do you think that the compressor has broken up and there is a blockage.
Thanks again
