Climate Control Feet Settings

Hi..
Today has been a hot day and only wanted air con at my feet ! I had the windows and sunroof for elsewhere. However the air con was also blowing strong at both side vents on the dashboard (the ones by the passenger window and the driver window not the middle vents in the dashboard)

Is this supposed to happen because the air display also shows it should only be coming out at the feet.
Could someone check there's and let me know or is this just me ?

Was AC on auto, or solely feet? My side vents blow even when heating is off. I find they blow the same temp that they were set to when heating/AC was on the previous time. I close the vent if it gets bothersome.

Was on soley feet. Just keep my toes cool in my trainers. And still it came through the dash side vents. I think I will just have to close the vents.
I discovered air comes through when it is off so I always set it cool/hot dependant on the weather outside also
