You could stricly speaking.

But it would involve fitting sensors all over the car, you would also have to fit motors to control the heating temp, and the blower direction.

I looked into it - seemed to me more hassle than it was worth but if you want it badly then it can of course be done, Anything is possible ;)

yes that's right i forgot, you would need sensors in quite a few places, in the dash, in the headliner etc...

BUT! sorry to hijack the thread, but CHR15B, if I get the panel with the three dials will it work on my car if I just replace the Climate panel? is the wiring harness similar?

I'm not sure to be honest mate.

I can imagine it is possible - and would be a lot easier than converting TO climate.

I don't have it, I did fancy it but seen how big the conversion would be and decided to give it a miss :)

thanks.

Personally I HATE the climate control. the thing is its hot here, so the fans are usually on full. There is no "Off" button on the panel, you have to turn down the fans until its off, which takes about 10 presses. If you hold the button it takes longer.

I quickly want to turn it off sometimes for a quick race and I hate to run the car hard with the AC on, not just lost power, also it's bad for the AC compressor clutch.

It's funny, as climate control was something I decided I really wanted from my next car. But now I have it, I'm not bothered by it. The only real benefit is if you use AC a lot (I imagine it will come into it's own in the summer) and the control panel looks smart on the dash :D

CC does my head in it just randomly ramps the fan speeds up without me wanting it to. if you select windscreen blower for example it blats the fans full pelt and you have to turn them back again (about 20 presses) and faff with it, i also dont like it atall and always have it on manual

Out of interest, to those of you who say you dont like it... have you had a car with climate control before? If so, is it the LCR CC that is a problem, or CC in general?

It's the Leon CC. All they needed to add was an "off" button. Otherwise its OK, can be a bit confusing but you get used to it.

Also when I turn off the AC, even with the temp on 22 or so, it starts to blow out hot air, like i turned on the heater. I have never successfully been able to use the fans on the car without the AC yet.

Rofl - Every time you see a leon i bet it looks like there is noone driving as we are all buried into the centre console bashing away at the minus button on the CC to get the fans down or sort out the bonkers temperature when its just decides to change itself.

You guys must have something wrong with your CC. Mine generally runs at low speed and only speeds up if the car gets warmer inside or, the sun shines on the sensor for too long.

I wouldn't get rid of it after having it on my last 3 cars, I always find that in a car with air con I can't find the right setting for temperature or fan speed.
