Climate Control / Climatronic Display Screen broken

Hi all,

Think my climate control unit needs replacing.

The screen has one of thos black circles which has been increasing in size and also means the other numbers aren't showing properly.

Found some useful threads but didn't seem like anyone got anywhere with just changing the screen so think I'll need a whole unit - is there anything to look for or not in terms of different models (trying to source one second hand)?

Are all Leon/Toledo climate control units the same?

Looking into a replacement is there a particular model number I need (02 Leon Cupra 1.8T 180bhp) - I've seen 5HB 007 978 - 01/02/10 etc as well as 1CO xxxxxx and 1M0 xxxxxx.

Thanks

The same has happened to mine and it developed after a sausage fingered meet and greet (parking) driver must have pressed it too hard [:@]

I'm waiting for the company to get back to me on what they're willing to do.

How did it happen to yours?

I'm not aware that the screen can be replaced. I think it's a whole unit job :(

Not cheap either at £430  (from David at Sere) otherwise it's an ebay job and you're looking around the £60 to £80 mark.

Cheers,

Charlie

We were probably bidding against each other. Was it from a Toledo by an online breakers on eBay? Finished earlier, £4 postage?

Yeah that was the one, put it at £36 with 10 seconds to go and won it (see your maximum bid was £35).

Sorry mate, seems I won it :(

Mines half covered in ink blobs now...

Did you find out if these units are all the same?
Which part number did you install in the end?

Surely they're all the same from the 1998 Toledeo to late '05 cupra R?

Ink blobs? That'll be the liquid crystal then. I need to replace mine because a) the buttons are sticky and b) the screen is losing more and more LC segments. When I checked up a few weeks back I was told that they're all the same

I got mine for £58 and thought I had done well. Was an absolutely mint unit though and from a car with less than 56k miles.

99% sure all climate controls from thos toledos and mk1 cupra/cupra r are same (or similar enough) to work on each other. The one I put in was 1M0 820 043 C
