Is it getting harder to start? Could maybe be starter motor on its way out and it's just the ignition clicking?

Starts fine

Then loud clicking from the top of the engine, and rough idle.

It was alot worse this morning but when it warmed up it stopped, im gona give her a good flush this weekend get some engine flush and see what happens.

She runs fine when driving, and when warm anyone know what I can check, not checked oil yet I will before my drive home tonight, I have checked it a few weeks ago tho.

Both belts look good no leaks any where and boost seems to be ok when driving though I didn't boot it.

Thanks
Allan

does kinda make you wonder when the "low oil warning light" will actually kick in!

My gf has a Vectra  (to fit the dog in) and i don't think she ever checked the oil before i met her, when i checked it for her it wasn't even on he dipstick. Went to get her some oil and it took nearly 4l of the stuff. It still runs absolutely fine

On a TDI 110 that would be never . . . . . . . .

As far as I know, only some LCR's have oil level sensors. The rest of us are supposed to use the dipstick regularly. For us, when the oil light comes on, it means roughly " there is no meaningful oil pressure. Kiss your main bearings goodbye."

"put ur heads between your legs and kiss your bum good bye"

Checked the oil this morning and its fine, but when i turned her over the dreaded clicking came back and she was rough as hell on the idle but when i pressed the go peddle even a tiny bit shes seems fine!

I will have to speed up my oil change plans and do it tonight.

had a look around the belts before she went to the garage and the cambelt looked good no movement in any of the wheels and and I gavet them a good poke (when switched off of course) and they didn't budge.

but looking at the aux belt that bit in the middle attached to the long black pole that sticks out (you know the one that doesnt move and is in the way of the cambelt case) anyway the bit at the other end was shakin like a gooden so I tried grabbing it to see if it stopped it but it didn't...... tho the idle roughness improved slightly.

Took her to the garage and like any good women I turned her over and nothing F@*kin Tw@@@T car, turned her off for 5 minutes and tried again and clickty click click showed the man the problem.

That should cost no more than £100 as the alternator clutch is about £50 with an hour to change it tops! I did mine in about that time with 2 cups of tea!:coolthumb
