Over the past 2 days i have noticed that my clutch pedal clicks on way down. it doesn't happen all the time but its really annoying!!! looked under there with a torch and didn't see much thought it could be that the big spring needs greasing or something? also looked on the ibiza section and they say its pedal box or cable but i know that the LCR doesn't have a cable clutch.

Any ideas?? i think this is gonna be expensive!

Are you sure its the clutch/clutch pedal??

Have you checked your engine mount bolts arn't slack allowing the engine to slop about and the bolts sliding on the mount causing the click

See if you can get someone to press the pedal while you look at it.

There is a known issue with sheet metal pedals where the little folded-and-spot-welded metal box fails, allowing the flap at the rear of the box to pop open under pressure from the master cylinder pushrod as you depress the clutch. The pushrod propels the little white plastic clip back through the now-open box, breaking it on its way out, and in bad cases also bending the pushrod. The pedal now can't operate the clutch master cylinder, so you are left without clutch control.

The clip is there to center the pushrod in the metal box on the pedal, but the incipient failure is of the spot welds on the little box. If you can see any movement of the flaps that make up the box, get it fixed before it fails.

A Seat dealer will replace the pedal, taking out the front seat to get enough room to work. If you have the facilities, the pedal can be repaired by redoing the welds, and making them good ones not little spots.

Had a good look today and checked the little box. it looked pretty solid but there wasnt much room there to have a good look and i need a bendy mirror. So im going to buy a mirror and have another look. i cleaned it up up there with a rag and a tiny bit of wd40 and the clicking has stopped?? i will keep and eye out coz i dont think this is the end of this! thanks for the info guys:)

maybe the plastic clip has worn down or a little bit has broken off and the hydrolic rod has got a bit of play in it now? its a good idea to make sure it isnt on its way out my pedal broke ended up having to get the hydrolics and the clutch replaced as well because the shock of it breaking buggered up seals and drowned the clutch in oil [:@] has the pedal got any play in it before it pushes the rod in?

When i had a look at it yesterday there was no play in the pedal or the rod at all i looked at the little welded box and it looks fine. the clicking has still stopped but it could come back at any time im still going to keep and eye on it for the next few weeks. Hope its nothing serious as i need 4 new tyres and this could be another big expense that i dont need:censored:

cheers
