Cleaning Morette Headlights

Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help me but I am tinkering today and after cleaning the throttle body (suffering from the dropping revs and started stalling on me the other morning! ;) ) I have decided to take the front headlights out, adjust and clean them!

They appear to be sealed units but I was wondering if anyone had any experience or tips on how to get inside the headlamp unit itself to clean the glass as it's disgusting and even after changing bulbs it is still not brilliant at night :(

I have the units out now and am trying to figure it out!! :help:

you could try heating the glue up on the lamps!and slowly prizing them apart, then re sesealing them!

Can put the lamps in the oven (not very hot) and then pull them apart.
Put them in a baking tray with paper in though

Sorted!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the suggestions (not sure about putting them in the oven though!!) :D

I found out over the weekend how they can be dismantled and managed to clean them and the difference is amazing [B)]

I have taken pics and will try and put them on here (in case anyone else feels the need or inclination to do this too!) but they can be taken out of the grill as units, then each light can be removed and dismantled by 3 screws which are fairly obvious once you take a look!

One word of warning though, be careful not to get glass cleaner on the reflective surface inside the units as when you rub lightly it starts to take the silver off!!! :censored:

If I do decide to do the spotlight units then I will of course be careful when turning after 5 mins and basting!!

before you do - PLEASE !!! mark both sides of it to line it up properly

but oven is best bet on a 'moderate' heat

I used a hairdryer on full heat - takes about 20 minutes per light with a bit of levering and digging etc - using the oven on say 100 degrees would be a good alternative - you can get that sort of temperat ure in the sun in some countries including the country where the car was built. Sometimes the lights just come cleanly apart and othertimes they fight you all the way - just need to be patient.
