cleaning breather filters

hi i was wondering if someone can help. my breather filter that i got with my induction kit keeps getting blocked. i heard that to clean it, i should clean it in petrol. i was wondering if this is true?

i just use warm soapy water to clean my filters

take a look at the K&N web site, it gives you an FAQ on cleaning your air filter. My brother soaks his in petrol, but on the site it says you shouldn't do it... so check it out.
