oh right, are people just assuming that they arent any good is is there proof:shrug:

I know performance gains are down on a chip that costs 500 but plus 25 bhp isnt bad for 60 quid:blink:

just an adjustable resistor in a box.

All it does is increase the amount of fueling by plugging into the fuel temp sensor on PDs. An old cheap technique which usually gives rough results.

Steer clear, and save your money towards a proper remap.

I had a superchip fitted on my 330d last year with good results and it only cost £200, maybe one of these could be alright

You will find that best is NOT the cheapest.
Tuning boxes just poor extra fuel in to help the bhp.
I am sorry but you are not going to get anything that is close to what bhp and torque that you can get.
The PD engines are fantasic and could stay that way even with a remap
http://www.custom-code.co.uk/content/view/1375/198/
as you can see with this information you can get alot in return.
But you will not get that with a £200 chip.
You could even waste £200 and then it will cose more to get a decent one.
You want good returns , unfortunately you want.
Pays your money and takes your choice

Hi All

I'm a newbie to Seat's, the VW Tdi engine and this forum, so firstly hello to you all - nice to virtually meet you

I haven't even picked my car up from the dealer yet (05 Leon FR 150 TDi) and I'm looking at chip upgrades :D

The above info is interesting reading but I also found a chip through a Google search... the Power Box.
http://www.dieselchiptuning.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=45&products_id=263

Anyone any experience of it - seems good value and doesn't sound like a resistor in a box type, but what do I know

Cheers

Richard.

Custom Code

Well I've finally done it!!!

3 years in and finally got my Ibiza re-mapped with Custom Code stage 1[:@]

What can I say....:D

It is so so fast and totally smooth....

I shall add more when I've been again but it's worth the ££££££ 4 sure.

Thanks to Bill from Badger 5, very pleased...:funk:

Well it gets better and better...

You know my car drives better now than stock, and what I mean by that it it's smoother, much smoother in all driving... somehow silky smooth.

1st gear, well tracktion control does not cope if I really boot it... but it ain't about 0 to 60 though.

2nd gear is a complete scream but it get better..

3rd I love to bits and revs pulling past 4000rpm with real gusto...

4th feels faster than 3rd before...

5th well I always missed that gear before always changing upto 6th from 4th, the car never really had the power at those speeds now it just pulls like a train.

A comment that somes up the transformation from my mate...."It does not feel like a car, it feels like a plane" refering to unprompted about how smooth it is.

I definately feel that this is an awesome remap... one that is in simpathy with the car... it should have been sold with this software for sure.

I did a few tests on straight stretches of road that I know and the terminal speed is faster than my MR2 Roadster I had before, and really starts to stretch away from anything I have had before from 70mph onwards. 4th really just pulls to 100+ and 5th is stupid.... pulls to over 4000rpm (anyone with the car will know what speed that is) :D so well.

Tbh it's the above 3000rpm that makes all the difference... a standard 130 is great upto 3000 but then lags, this just takes it all above 4000rpm in a beautifully smooth and refined way...

Oh and did I say how fast it is now :funk:

More to come later, but it was not what I expected...

I expected a fearsome but short lived boost... "chipped" effect....

I have now a car that feels so much faster but not chipped at all, it feel so unstressed... bodes well for longevity for sure!

So what power does it produce with a custom code then?

To be honest I have no idea.... site says 170 to 175 Bhp sounds about right. Never know for sure until you RR it and even then they seem to be all different. It is much much faster and well worth the money.

Anyone had their CC TDI 130 Ibiza put on a Rolling Road?

Hi
Question to anyone with a re-map.
How do you find this affecting your fuel enconomy.

I'm looking at getting one done on to my seat cupra TDI.
( either jabba / revo - not deceided on that bit yet)
But i dont want to totally destory the reason i bought a TDI - MPG.

With a remap on all throttle load points except fuel throttle the car will be better on fuel. Obviously if you thrash the pants off it all the time the fuel economy will go down. I noticed at motorway speeds mine was 5 - 10mpg better than standard.

My take on this is that is stays about the same, I'm certainly not getting 5 to 10 mpg better. However I am getting at least as good mpg and if anything 2 or 3 mpg better. Feel safe that the only thing that will lessen your mpg is your right foot and not the re-map :)
