As the title says no matter what position the child lock key thing is turned to my rear passenger door cannot be opened from the inside!

This is quite low down on the list of niggling problems my LCR has but just curious to see if it's something I can fix myself on the cheap.

Cheers

Until knowing what the cause of the problem is, a solution can't really be offered! Have to take the door card off and check the cable/rod from the interior door handle

Most likely that your door lock module is knackered. Get someone to repeatedly press the open button on the drivers inner door panel while you bash the edge of the handle with your hand. If you are really lucky it will unlock.

Thanks for the replies guys! Just to reiterate the door opens as it should from the outside just not from the inside. This Leeds me to think that it could possibly be what leegreenway is saying! What exactly did you do to fix it? When I take the door card off will it be obvious what needs doing?

Undo all teh screws on the door card and pull it towards you, as you remove it off you should see a cable from the door lock going to the handle on the back of the door card just make sure it's hooked in and secure.

Mine was been awkward to I duck taped it to make sure :p

Sounds fairly simple! I have plenty of duct tape to hand so I will go and investigate if it ever stops raining!

Common issue with these is the cable detaches from the handle, normally because handle has been pulled hard and snapped on the back, take the card off and have a look, it should be hooked to the handle and a small sleeve on the cable clips in to hold the outer shell still so the inner cables pulls through.

Failing that, it could be a problem on the lock end, this is a bit more involved, e.g. window out, regulator out etc

So I've taken the door car off and it looks as if the reason the door isn't opening from the inside is because there is too much slack in the cable! When I pull the car away taking some of the slack the door handle works! It looks as if there is a clip thing around the cable that isn't attached to anything, does this need to be attached to something? How can I get rid of some of the slack so I can open the door from the inside?

Update: all fixed now! The wire just had to be fed through a bit on the side and secured in place with the clip, the clip and wire had just come loose meaning there was too much slack in the wire for it to open the door! It clicked when I saw this image...

As in the picture in post #13:
The clip is #1 and the cable is #2, the clip sits over the cable and clicks into bracket section of door - it's pretty obvious once you open the door card and look inside ;)
