Chemical Guys - Bare Bones

CG's Bare Bones is a product i have had for a little while and used a few times but never really looked to review.

The main reason for this is that the product is designed to trim / finish off the under carriage of your car... you know, the wheel arches, under body plastic trim etc.

As it happens i decided to use it as an engine trim finishing product.

So the process went a little like this:

Sprayed engine with Megs APC (4:1) and agitated with selection of brushes.
Rinsed engine with jet wash on wide angle spray while the engine was running.
Closed bonnet and let engine idle for 10-15 minutes while i vac'd the interior
Switched off engine, opened bonnet and dried off any remaining water with old waffle weave towel.
Applied Bare Bones to all surfaces and left for 5 minutes to soak in a little.
Removed excess product and buffed all areas with MF work cloths.

So, the finished article looked like so

Ignore the polish residue in the wing gaps, this was removed after the pics ! :headhurt:

1 month and 1K miles later and its a tiny bit dusty but on the whole the anti static abilities of the product are repelling dirt and dust pretty well.

Thanks for taking the time to look  Nige

So far i cant fault Bare Bones but as i'm only an enthuiast detailer and not doing it for business in any way i tend to buy products when i need them or something new comes along that i have a gap in my kit bag for.

If i was doing it for a living then i would have gone for something like Megs ASD for the big areas (arches etc) as its a bulk product and something more specialist for engine bay finishes like the Aerospace 303.

Thanks for the comments though

I have only used Aerospace 303 once and couldnt fault it.

My dressing of choice at the moment is Valet Pro - Protectant. I got it recommend to me by Jim @ autoperfection and never looked back since.

Nice review Nige :)

I really recommend it. Only issue I have is it could do with a trigger as its really runny - a small bit goes a mile.
