(put a pc in front of me and other electrical goods ill tell u wats wrong no problem lol) i am guessing it need to be in that dotted square patch... well i am reading exactly half... this mean i lost a bit or what... do i need to fill it up so its fully covered?

Some PD TDIs hardly seem to use any (my Ibiza didn't, and the Passat doesn't seem to) - but some can use loads in the first 10k.

Best to keep checking regularly.

I've checked a few times, as I've done 600 miles now and it's still ok. Despite a bloke at work who owns a Fabia vRS telling me that engine uses a lot of oil during the first couple of thousand miles.

Maybe each one is different, as the guy at the shop where I bought some Castrol Edge looked confused when I told him about the oil usage. He's got a Leon 2.0 TDI and said he's just done 5k miles and has only had to top up the oil now.

I though you were only supposed to put the manufacturers recommended, blah blah (see TDI stickey oil section).

But as I said, I have not had to put any in. (dealer does it once a year or every 10K as necessary)

It must be cause I spend a lot of time driving like Miss Daisy (off subject)(managed 62.2mpg on a 50mile run at approx 55miles an hour)

Your not wrong there Smee:D

The thing is I always feel guilty If I give it loads.

though you don't half notice the turbo if youve been driving Miss Daisy about for a couple of days when you do give it the beans

Leaking Vs. Burning?

This seems as good a place as any to ask it. Has anyone else had a persistent leak following a routine oil change? I have the 100hp 1.4l petrol Sport if that helps. Started right after my 30k service now been back 4 times to repair this & only done 2.1k since...

Complete opposite to me, my Ibiza (remapped 130) was much easier to get good mpg figures from !
