Have found a new source for VW approved PD oil.

Quantum Platinum in 5 litre pots can be bought from your local TPS (trade part specialists) for around £16 + vat. I paid £15.85 + vat which meant £18 all in. [B)] I used to buy millers XFE-PD, which cost around £30+, but it's great to find Quantum Platinum at this great price.

Just rang my local place and it's 24.19 + vat for Longlife III cheap as chips.... thats for a petrol Cupra. (just thought I'd add it) oh btw 260bhp out of a PD engine is good going :) don't want to come across u on the road

TPS quoted me 24 quid for 5ltrs longlife III 507 spec tdi oil, but thats trade price, still cheap i think ;)

I got 3x1L bottles of Castrol Edge 507.00 oil from Costco for less than £15 a while back, but I've not seen it since. :(

I don't know whether that is the right spec of oil you need. According to the oil sticky thread a 507.00 (long life) oil is recommended for engines with more than 150 BHP. Your 130bhp standard engine running 260 BHP may need this better oil.

Last October I bought 5l of Millers XFE PD oil and a bottle of Millers Sport 4 for £32 at my local Motor Factors.

505.01 spec is fine regardless of tune in my opinion. I change the oil more regularly than 10,000 miles though - just to be sure. :)

That Havoline stuff sounds a bargain to me! :)

I think I got it at JTF (costco type of place) with employee discount will change it at 5k no harm done especially when I can't floor it as limp mode keeps kicking in.

Whatever you do, don't buy Quantum Platinum from a Seat main dealer.... popped into my local main dealer at lunchtime, thinking it wouldn't be 'much' more than what TPS charge, only to be asked to part with £39

I politely told the parts guy that I would leave it, and that I'd pop in to TPS on Saturday and pick it up for £20.....

He also mentioned that as my car required 505.01 Quantum Platinum he couldn't sell me 507.00 Quantum Long Life as it's not the right oil for tha car.....

Don't you love it when a dealer knows what they're talking about
