Cheap exhausts?

Hello boys,

Well I'm back again, this time with a '97 GTI 2.0 16v!

I picked it up yesterday only to discover the centre box is shot. Being a true pikey, I need a cheap one rather than some expensive stainless jobbie.

I've looked at GSF and ECP but to no avail. I haven't called the factors yet, but I guess they're going to be expensive. Anyone bought a pattern one before, and if so, how much did it sting you and how easy was it to fit?

Any help would be hugely appreciated as it's VOR til it's done.

Mine's just gone and the garage i use could only get one to fit my 8v from the stealers - £117 for the middle section !!! They tried a few diff ones from their suppliers but couldn't get one that fitted.

i was going to say the 20VT ones are the same, its what i put on mine, and you can pick them up pretty cheap.

same bore as well if im told rightly

Yeah I thought 20vT ones would fit, but I was hoping to get a new one today so I can fix it tomorrow.

Just rang the factors, £56 inc VAT and its in stock!

Looks like it'll be back on the road tomorrow evening then!

Back to the topic, the exhaust is half off, I just need some new jigsaw blades so I can chop the front clamps off. I'm at work til 4 so I'll have to annoy the neighbours later

Its all on, Arvin ones do fit!

I had to cut a bit off but thats only because the previous installation was different to OE. It all fitted on perfectly with no blowing, I'm very happy!

What's a little annoying is the cat heatshield rattling. I didn't notice this, and while I had it all in bits, it would've been very easy to remove. I might see if my mate can put a couple of welds on it to keep it secure and silent.
