Changing wing mirrors

Has anybody ever changer their wing mirrors from the post-facelift Golf style mirrors, to the later 'teardrop' style mirrors?

If so, what parts are involved and how do you do it?

I'm really tempted to change my existing 'Golf' mirrors to some teardrops and to paint them black. My other halves Puma Millenium and the new Mk2 Leon Cupra both have black mirrors which I think look stunning on a yellow car. So I wanna shamelessly copy the idea

If anybody knows what's involved, please let me know

Ta :)

its plug & play, i did it .
You only need the complete set of teardrop-like mirrors, you can plug them in and they work. No extras needed. The heating, folding, adjusting work, no probs, the only thing is that mine had a pavement mirror option, that's lost with the upgrade

First of all i'm from Holland
I bought my set, used for €150 el.foldy, el.heaty, el.adjustable
In the Netherlands we have a site for used carparts, you discribe the part's you need, and a car recycling company, that has them in stock, contacts you.
And if you accept, sends the parts tio your home, you can collect them also, no problem

Excellent, thank you very much! Can you tell me which parts should come with the 'complete kit' just in case I find some second hand. I'd like to make sure I get every bit I need from the start.

Thanks again :)

As promised:

This ones a '99 Toledo,:

The original square mirror is plugged in here, with 2 plugs

The facelift teardrop mirrors have only 1 plug, but that one fits on one of the 2 plugs in the door:

You plug the mirror in this one and everything works , heating, folding, adjusting , the works:

Yeah no worries at all. My main target is going to be eBay to be honest. There are always Leons on there being broken for parts so I'll try and get in quick on them :)

My 02 leon had square mirrors and 05 has teardrop both only had one plug! I think second plug is was for reverse drop thing!!! So even more plug n play than ya thought!!! Oh and I liked older mirrors, you could get anti dazzle glass and see more behind but hey different folks, different strokes!!!

Hi, yeah we have a place like that site here in england, its never been any use to me, but my friend who owns a Ford Escort swears by it, hope it serves you well.
