Well Im after chaning my oil on the ibiza and well I have never done it before ( I normaly just get it done at service) but the state of my car from the last bodge service is amking me think I should do it. Can anyone tell me how for a 1.2 and the partnumber for a 1.2 oil filter. O and what oil would be best
cant tell you the part numbers, but oil wise is upto you i swear by mobil 1, but you can get silly in price of oil although halfords is supposed to be really good, oil change is fairly straight forward, never done one and a beezer, the hardest part is making sure you dont overtighten or cross thread the sump plug, and as for part numbers your local motor factors should help on that score when you order.

Dont pay too much attention to the price of the oil. 99% of cars will never make use of the extra "technology" thats gone into the more expensive oils. The best thing you can do to your car when it comes to oil is to change it every 6 months

Have it on axle stands, Remove oil Cap, Dipstick
Switch Off Engine
Undo sumpplug ANTI-CLOCKWISE
Let oil drain off, Try not get any on you as it will be hot.
Remove Oil Filter (dont know what it looks like on 1.2)
Check Sumplug washer before putting it back on and tighten it up (DO Not Over Do It)
Put New filter in and change the seals if its the same as the diesel filter housing
Fire some oil in (3litre)
Start Car, Make sure oil light goes out, Switch off check oil and fill to correct level showing on dipstick
Give it a burl, Check afterwards for leaks

to elaborate a litte on rosco's guide:-
you will only want to run the car for 2 minutes tops, so you are not dealing with boiling oil !
surely if you remove the oil cap & dipstick whilst the engine in running you will spatter oil everywhere
imo, i'd leave these on untill you turn the engine off
once you start the car after re-filling, leave it to stand for a few minutes to allow all the oil to settle in the sump again, then check the level and add more if required
always check the dipstick on level ground, not on axle stands as the angle of the car will cause an incorrect reading!

cant get the oil filter out of the oil cap housing...ive drained the oil etc, does any one know???
tried everything man!! unscrewing it both ways....just to clarify its the actual filament filter i cant get off not the black oil filter cap housing bolted onto the engine!
