Changing the gear shift

I drive an 04 plate which has the rectangle shape long gear shift and gaitor. I would like to replace it with the Audi TT round one like this one in the picture.

Is it possible? Is it difficult? Is it major bit of work to do?

cant see it working the hole will be there for existing one

no chance of that working... might be able to do the knob, but as said rectangle now, circle there.... wont work mate

I was hoping that the circular bit would have covered the rectangular shape of existing one. I suppose the only thing would be to removed existing console and see if an Audi TT one would fit. Hmmm now it seems to be getting too complicated.
