hi peeps,

Have any of you changed the standard front/rear speakers in a Ibiza FR?

Looking to get an Alpine head unit (so i can use me ipod), and buy some fairly decent speakers to swap over with the standard ones.

Is this gonna be a nightmare to do?

I have searched the forums but havent found anything specifically for ibiza FR's and want to be sure of how difficult its going to be before attempting it.

Cheers :)

Shouldnt be too hard, the rear speakers should fit with no problems. But dependingwhat depth you go for in the front you might need to create some "custom" spacers.

I need to do this with my Alpine set up ive got, still waiting to go in!

Changing the speakers in the FR will be no different than doing it in any other model Ibiza - just follow the info you found for the other models :)

I changed the speakers to Alpine ones and done it myself.

As Chris04sx says, make sure the panels are tight back on again. I missed a clip the 1st time and had rattles. Took it off and made sure they were all done and havent heard another since.

have you thought about not using rear speakers at all just fade them out and spending more on the set for the front or possibly an amp for the set in the front?
in my opinion a good set of speakers in the front and no speakers in the back is always going to give a better sound.
most of the best sounding systems ive heard just have good components in the front and a sub in the boot.depends on what your after though.

Ive got Alpine Type-s components front and rear. Alpine SPS-171A

I ran new wires in aswell.

The sound quality is great off the standard headunit. Vocals are a lot clearer.

Thinking about getting the 5 channel Alpine V-Power amp to run all components and a sub.

i have an Alpine 9854 head unit, with 10'' vibe sub... the wires on the back of the head unit are universal so blocks are not needed.. i had trouble removing the standard head unit but took it to the dealer and they pulled it out for free.. i haven't changed my speakers yet but removed the panels to wire up my sub.. but will change the rear speaker some time soon.. didnt have trouble removing panels. just be careful..
