You beat me to it mate!

I was just gonna ask the same question.

I think you've gotta make your own replacement dash cover with a din size hole in it.

Either that or locate the new headunit somewhere else. Which i dont really want to do.

I would love a new headunit cause the stereo in the IBIZA is terrible and i havent even got a cd player!

Sorry mate. Dont understand your comments.

you cant what? and what doesnt?

I've read elswhere that you've managed to install a new headunit along with a few other bits of ICE so seeing as you've been there and done it we would appreciate maybe a little pointer as to what we need to do.

Ah right, gotch now mate.

Thanks.

This is something i didnt think about when buying the IBIZA. I've had a few MK4 Golf 1.8ts and its been simple cause they have Din slots.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It can be done, not sure how though. I just bought a mk 3 which had alot of audio equipment left in it, one of the things that was left was an alpine tv headunit which is placed where the center air vents should be.

The standard cupra stereo isnt connected at all, all directed thought the alpine.

Cheers :)

Hi

I was told by a Friend that you cannot change the headunit in a mk3 Ibiza, is this true?

Does the standard one have rca outputs?

I've installed a new h/u under the steering wheel, and means you don't have to cut into the centre consol.
All you need to do is slave the power from the back of the standard h/u.

It took me a whole weekend there is alot of messing around, but now I've got all my system in its worth it.

Good luck

what iv read is you can run an amp off the standard stereo the plugs are on the back, and the standard stereo isnt to bad BUT the standart speakers are, so if i was you before hakking up the dash is change all the speakers and fit an amp and sub then see what you think. hope this helps you guys.

fyi - theres no rca outputs, you have to use a line - rca converter with the standard HU

very true, it depends on peoples budget and what they are after

been there and done that myself, in the end i went with speaker inputs direct to the amp and it worked well (late night in liverpool that was with pete from icecavern.com) and that was pretty good tbh

then i had a 20vt console modified to take a DIN unit

swings and round abouts really
