think it may be time for my first service,

the car started a count down to when the service is need...saying 500,400,300,200,100 miles till service.....so presuming 14,000k is the service requirement...car is now at just over 14,000

however, the little mot sticker in the top left hand corner of the windscreen says service next needed at 14,800...(only had the car 6months)..so bit of difference

the car now makes a warning sound when i start the car...and the display panel flashing INSPEC...and there is a little spanner sign...

also other little things have stopped working since this...the lock and unlock buttons on the inside of the car next to the electric windows buttons have now stopped working...i presume this is something due to the service light?

Is there a way of turning this warning off? and also what is required for a first service at 14,000 miles

many thanks

The service light is not always in synk with your actuall service as mine goes off mid way I would go by the sticker rather than the spanner/inspec.

As for warning sound are there any other lights on the dash? Don't think its something on mine but I might be wrong, not low fuel or something?

no other lights...it makes the warning sound as if you are low on fuel...but then i look at the display screen and it says

INSPEC....and a little spanner appears...i know this is down to the car thinking its time for a service...

but pretty stumped as to why the locking buttons dont work now...

When my service light came on I had no isses with the car at all, I knew it was early so just ignored it although I think if you want to reset it there is a post somewhere, however from memory I think its something like, turn key to position 1 hold down the trip reset button and wait for the countdown to compleate. Turn the ignition off and then back on should be the end of the service light. Might be worth searching though I can't remember if that is correct or not.

I think the locking issue is a red herring and unrelated to the service indicator.

The service indicator reset procedure is in the owner's book - I can't remember the exact sequence, but it is along the lines of holding the trip reset whilst turning on the ignition, then selecting the counter you want to reset (oil or spanner) by twisting the stalk, then pressing the reset again to exit.

As I say, not 100% on this - but it is in the manual
