Central Locking Problem - Door Open/Closed Sensor

Hello!

Im having a little issue with my car - it should be a warranty issue but id like to get some feedback before it goes in as they may get arsey about adding in new speakers etc.

Basically the Drivers side door ALWAYS thinks its closed. Therefore when you unlock the car and open the door, it still tries to lock itself. It even managed to lock it when the keys were in the ignition (like Ant_FR's at Trax 05 stylee!) Also the light warning buzzer doesnt operate, nor does the interior light (for that door)

Ive checked VAG COM and it confirms:
00928 - Locking Module for Central Locking: Front Driver Side (F220)
27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

It certainly doesnt seem intermittent! Looking at the measuring blocks on the Central Conv. the door is always reading as closed no matter when its open or closed.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Ive had the door card off and tried re-connecting the wired etc but to no avail.

I have the same problem - door lock is very difficult to get at so am thinking of putting in a microswitch as in older cars.

Hi edbutler me again,
There is a connection between the door and the actual car it is in the rubber tube thing that u can see when the door is open. It is somtimes a dodgy connection or even manages to come unplugged but it is normally a silly fault with these things. Just another suggestion before you splash out on door locks and things although are probably be warrenty!!

Finally got round to fixing this - the brown-yellow wire is the one to cut - connected this to a microswitch (fixed to door card) which earths it (earth wire to bolt on inner door) when the door is open (switch open) and disconnects when door is closed (switch closed).

i have the same problem. just took the car to the service. first the electrician checked the wires in the black rubber tube where the door opens. then he told me its the sensor that is located in the door lock and it needs to be changed.
the price of a new lock here in greece is 140euros!!! plus 30euros for the work!!! MY WARRANTY EXPIRED 12 DAYS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

go to your dealer and make a fuss they will do it if your warranty has only just expired especialy as this seems to be a common fault

thanks for the advice! i just had another look at the lock myself. leaving the engine running to make sure the lights go on only when the door is open i constantly opened and closed the door to see if the sensor eventually senses the open door. IT DID! i does it when the door is engaged with the lock but not well closed and you can sort of shake it a bit. well when you shake it the lights go on. but if you then open it its as if you had closed it. personally my lock are full of some wax they put each time i come for service... maybe some of that got into the sensor... so the sensor is not completely out of order and definitely not worth 170euro (110pounds)!!!
has any body noticed this? any way i could clean it or something?
