Central Locking Broken

Hi

I’m having some trouble with the Central locking on my Ibiza, its only started today and I’ve just had to climb through the boot to get into it!!!

It's a 1.4 Fresca, so it has central locking, but no remote. The car locks fine, with no problems, but it wont open at all! the electronics seem to be OK, as when im in the car, i can pull the door pin and this opens all the doors no problem.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? as climbing into the car through the boot in a crowded street is quite embarrassing!!!
Thanks,
Alb

So even if you use your key in the drivers side lock manually, it won't even open that door?? What about trying to use the key on passengers side??

Central locking operates on an air vacuum. Sounds like the pipe connected to the door lock may have come off or split.

There is an emergency opening trick (to avoid having to go through the boot). In the drivers side panel in the boot, behind the carpet & behind the rear wheel well (i.e. right at the back of the car), there is a cord/string attached to the central locking pump (which sits near the fuel fill between inner & outer wing. If it won't open, pull on this cord and it should release the system.

Hi, thenks for the reply. Yeah thats right, the lock will not open when using the key in the drivers side door. The passenger side does the same thing, however it has always done this since i've had the car, i assumed that this was something to do with the locking mechanism, but now the drivers side has done the same.

Thanks for this, at least it will be easier to get into the car now! I'll have a look at the pipes today, and see what i can find out.

Thanks,

just as a 'tenuous link' to this,

anyone know the best way to get the little pipe back on to the boot lock mechanism? mines been off since I changed the boot and Ive always lost my rag with it whenever Ive tried to re affix it, so I 'clamped' it with tape and left it...
