cd changer in a 2001 seatibiza cupra.

no longer plays cd'd just get cd error

any suggestions .

took unit out few weeks ago gave a bit of a clean and tried disc cleaner worked for a while but stoped again

any suugestions before having to get new unit would be arrpreciated

I have the same problem (but with a sony and connects2 adapter). Tried replacing all the leads and cd's still no joy

i think my alpine is on its way out, its started to tell me theres no CDs in some slots. Dunno whats causing it.

Paul - sounds like it's a bit intermittent.. if you're going to bin the changer and replace it, then there would be no harm in taking it apart to check if the laser assembly can still move freely on it's tracks, and other mechanical items are still functioning.

After some time grease and dirt can build up - but to be fair, after some time the laser diode can stop functioning completely as well... worth a look if you're about to give up all hope and replace it with a new one.

sounds silly but try one of those CD laser cleaners. put it in slot 1 then play. slot 2 then play and so on. should fix your problem.. i know it did for me.
