CD changer not working

As it says really, i thought it was a copied cd at first but ive out a few originals in and it still doesnt work!

Concerning thing is, before i got the car i had checked what it had done by the Dealers, and its only recently been in for a new radio changer and wiring!

Are these common problems? It'll be going back without a doubt, as it still has warranty left on it. I know Changers can be prone to packing up, we are forever changing them at BMW, just curious if the Seat ones are equally as crap!!

I know that mine occasionally displays "Error" or "CD Error" when changing from one cd to another... i can usually get round it by either reloading the cd or reloading the whole magazine. I don't have a solution but at least you aren't alone!!

I'll talk to SEAT about it when i get around to getting the service it's due.

some may say lala land....
mine did the same as name__taken and it was due to a faulty cartridge, swapped under warranty.

Mine won't read copied CD's or at least i haven't found a make it likes.
What make do you use Jonny_Paul? and others please

Blackcountry Boy!
Had similar troubles myself a few months back. Turned out to be the reader head was sticking randomly when trying to move across the cd's. I simply removed the changer from the glove box, gave it a good 'ol technical shake :brucelee: and all has worked fine since.
Never had a problem with mine playing copied cd's, plays many differant brands, some in pretty shitty condition.

it was just a Maxell CD-R, nothing special, but had only just made it! Mine goes through and checks for cd in and out of the magazine, then just comes up No CD. But as i say its had EVERYTHING changed all ready....and i presume this means a new magazine!

Booked in for Saturday anyway, shall soon see whats wrong!

Thanks for the replies

Ours has been doing this - do a search for thread - have got another T69 cd changer off eBay to see if it keeps doing it. Obviously have checked all the wiring and connect2 boxes etc. previously. Trying to see if it's the head unit or the cd changer or the wiring . . . ho hum I just love intermittent faults! Current cd changer seems to be o.k. so far (Translated as ... it'll cut out today and display CHANGER, prove me wrong and drive me mad).

The same happened to mine this time last year. Almost all my CDs are copied, and had been fine, then the display started reading 'No Disk'
Like yourself, it was a warranty job, and the techs said it was a common problem.
Replaced it, and all has been fine since

I had a knightmare with mine. Was replaced ater i bought the car, but still caused problem after problem, but was always intermittent. Took it out in the end, changed the head unit and put the ipod adaptor in. Sold the changer to a friend and he's had no problems what so ever with it!

This sort of thing used to be quite common on car stereos from a few years back, before copied CD's were everywhere and used by everyone. Many standard fit head units would slowly die over time if used with copied CD's. Ford stereos especially were prone to this.
